Hypnosis for infertility

The role of the mind and emotions in fertility is a vital one that is often overlooked.  Mind/body medicine is an approach to health that recognizes the effect that our mind has on our body and the body on the mind.  Hypnosis for fertility can reverse the negative effects physically, mentally and emotionally whilst at the same time enhances fertility and the success of medical interventions.

Millions of women are struggling with the dilemma of a “diagnosis” that has been handed them: “unexplained infertility” or “old eggs” or “high FSH,” and a one size fits all solution:  stimulation drugs, intrauterine insemination, IVF, donor eggs and medical treatments and procedures that feel unnatural, come with a very high price tag and often fail.  Many women are told by fertility specialists that they would never conceive naturally due to poor egg quality, but they could undergo an IVF procedure with fertility drugs, artificial hormones and donor eggs and then they would have a fairly good chance of having a baby. The reality is that the success rates are fairly low.

There is usually no single cause for fertility problems, therefore an integrated approach incorporating mind/body healing techniques such as hypnosis, acupuncture and homeopathy combined with Western medicine, improves the chances of a woman conceiving naturally as well as the efficacy of any necessary medical interventions. Hypnosis for fertility is a programme to reduce stress through meditation.   It involves a visualizing process where conception is created in the mind and most importantly, identifying and processing the deep-seated issues that may be interfering with conception.  After just a few sessions many women experience more positive feelings which has an impact on their fertility.

How fertility issues impact on a couple

  • Feelings of inadequacy
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Can cause relationship issues blame/resentment
  • Negatively affect their sex life
  • Fear of debt /stress of assisted reproductive technologies (IVF etc.)

How stress affects reproduction

  • Often has an adverse effect on reproductive hormones (especially FSH and LH).
  • Engages the sympathetic nervous system which can result in insufficient blood flow to the uterus and ovaries.
  • Adrenalin inhibits production of progesterone which is essential for building and maintaining the lining of the uterus
  • Prolactin inhibits both a woman and man’s fertility by decreasing estrogen and testosterone.

Many women don’t have the financial resources or want to use drugs or medical procedures or donor eggs and they would benefit from firstly embarking on a programme of mind/body approaches (the cost is just a few thousand rands) before embarking on expensive medical treatments (which may cost many tens of thousands of rands). It makes  sense to bring the mind and body into a state of balance and harmony to increase the chances of conceiving naturally or to improve the success rates of medical treatments.
